Genesis Physicians Group partners with Aspen Specialty Physicians Network to coordinate patient care and address soaring health care costs.
Dallas, TX – May 13, 2019 – Genesis Physicians Group entered into a collaboration agreement with Aspen Physicians Network, to accelerate the transformation of primary care and specialists’ co-management of patient care. This unique collaboration will harness the best ideas and innovation in both primary and specialty care, and will utilize new strategies such as “smart referral” technology, to improve the coordination of health care for patients needing multiple specialties to support their health. In addition, the collaborative will work together on the redesign of a primary care and specialist physician co-management process for a number of chronic disease conditions, driving out wasted steps in the referral process for patients needing multiple specialists. Importantly, this care coordination will lead to more cost-efficient, quality health care outcomes for shared patient populations.
With over 500 primary care and 1,000 specialty physician members, Genesis is expanding its population health management expertise through its engagement of Aspen’s 400+ member specialists. Working together, the physician members of both organizations will be better positioned to succeed in both employer- and government-sponsored financial risk contracts, while supporting the growth of independent private practice, with creative new care delivery models. The scale of the two organizations will form the catalyst necessary to accelerate the transformation of health care delivery for independent practicing primary care and specialty care physicians in North Texas.
“Genesis and Aspen believe the North Texas health care community is strengthened when primary care and specialty care physicians work together to redesign and streamline the sharing of patient care responsibilities for complex patients. We have discovered new momentum in transforming health care delivery, appreciating the unique and important contributions of both primary care and specialists, when both are empowered to co-create new patient care workflows.” said Jim Walton, DO, President/CEO of Genesis Physicians Group.
Rick Snyder, MD, HeartPlace Cardiologist and President, Aspen Physician Network continues, “We partnered with Genesis to contribute the diverse talent, experience and creative ideas of 10 different specialty care disciplines and 400+ independent specialists to develop new models of care delivery for value-based contracting. We hope this is the first of many care collaborations for Aspen delivering both quality and value to the North Texas market. Aspen Physician Network was created to bring high-quality independent specialty physicians together in a unique collaborative model for the expressed purpose of addressing quality and costs for the patients of North Texas.”
